Senior Ryan Czarny is the epitome of a hard-working, outstanding student. This year he has been a drum major on band, Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta, and #3 in the senior class. There’s no doubt he’ll be successful as he moves on to the next chapter of his life at one of the top engineering schools in the country, Colorado School of Mines.
“I’m planning on attending this school next year because it has an awesome engineering program and the location is amazing,” Czarny said.
Choosing his school wasn’t difficult for Czarny at all.
“At first it wasn’t my number one, but after visiting it took first place,” Czarny said.
Czarny always had an interest in math and science. He plans to pursue a career that involves both subjects.
“I want to do Chemical and Biochemical Engineering because they combine what I love about math, chemistry, and biology,” Czarny said.
Czarny anticipates that his future at CSM will be challenging, but he’s willing to work hard to make his dream happen.
“I’ll be taking only science and math classes next year because they relate to my degree. I’m expecting more homework and difficult courses,” Czarny said.
His years at Oak Ridge have equipped him to take on new challenges in college.
“Taking AP classes, especially AP Chemistry and AP Biology, and all the activities I’m involved in has prepared me for next year. My AP teachers, Ms. Hantz, and Ms. Houston have all helped me as well,” Czarny said.
Along with his studying, Czarny is planning on being involved in other activities on campus too.
“I will probably be in the CSM band and hike in my spare time because the mountains in Golden, Colorado are beautiful. Also I want to study abroad in Spain as a result of taking AP Spanish V,” Czarny said.
Czarny is very excited about next year and all the new things he will experience.
“I’m most looking forward to learning chemistry at the school and the labs we’ll do in the course. They will be more interesting and inventive,” Czarny said.
